Cadence exhibition

I am glad to be part of the Complexe de Canal Lachine & Montreal Folk Festival on the Canal (MFFC)  in a curated art show featuring 30 Montreal artists.

The artwork for CADENC is to be inspired by a song. My work is inspired by David Bowie’s Ashes to Ashes.

The exhibition will take place from May 31 to June 7 at the E.K. Voland Gallery, 4710 rue Saint-Ambroise, Montreal, and will be a must see stop for the hundreds of art lovers who will visit the Complexe’s Open House June 2 from 3-9pm

The MFFC will bring in emerging acoustic artists to come and play music for the duration of the Open House.

On opening gala night of the MFFC the curated art show will be moved to the Centre Culturel Georges-Vanier where it will be presented with a vernissage held in affiliation with the opening night indoor concert to be enjoyed by the MFFC music lovers.

Mixed media workshop KAA

Mixed media workshop given for Kirkland Artists Association. December 2, at maison Lanthier, Kirkland.

I am so proud of everybody’s results; so creative. We had a lot of fun. Good job everyone.

Mixed Media Workshop

There is 3 available rooms for an acrylic Mixed Media workshop.

• Maison Lantier 11, chemin Lantier, Kirkland
• December 2nd form 10:00 to 16:00
• We will paint a still life with material transfer, stencils and textures.
• Cost is 85$, 95$ material included

MATERIALS

• Canvas I suggest 18“X 24“ or more. Buy a gallery framed canvas if you do not want a frame.

• Acrylic paint

• You may use your own color palette, but it is important to have at least all of each primary colors, yellow, red and blue.
• A very useful limited palette is to have a warm and cool version of each primary. For example Lemon yellow (cold) / Cadmium yellow medium (warm);
• Cadmium red medium (warm) / alizarin crimson (cold) or quinacridone magenta (cold); Cerulean blue (cold) or phtalo blue (cold) /Ultramarine blue (warm).
• You will be able to make all the colors needed with this palette, more mixing though!
• One large white tub Ivory black
• If you want to be adventurous buy some colors you are not familiar with (I suggest small
• quantities) : some fluorescent colors, glitters etc.

• Brushes

• One small (1/4”), one medium (1/2” – 1”) and any larger brushes you have. I normally work with house paint brushes for my background and create effects.
• Some cheap short-handle flat brushes can be very useful.
• Palette knives are useful (not too small)
• Car putty knifes : you can buy them at Canadian Tire or use an old credit card.
• Or you can work with plaster wall knife but they are more rigid alterrnative
• 2 small paint roller : one with a smooth roll another with a textured roll
